20 February 2020 | Colombians love San Andres! They talk about it with a big smile, it rimes with holidays. So we went. It is very easy to fly from a Colombian big cities to San Andres.
Unfortunately, we had to carry some work with us, internet on the island is not really fast. We were expecting it, after all, it is an island! Well, we managed to work on the rooftop of our hotel with a nice view of the sea of 7 colors.
San Andres has the same tax rules as airports, so everything is a bit cheaper, it shaped the city into a massive shopping center. The city is great for shopping and partying. The beach walk becomes a botellon during the evening.
The beaches are beautiful and the water impressively blue and full of cool fish.
The city organized a small Caribbean festival with local food and music. We enjoy finally feeling the local vibe and danced!
We rented a car (there are plenty of places to do so) to discover the rest of the island.
We basically drove into the holiday mood, the ride to Roky Cay beach is short and very nice along the coast. A white sand beach with coconut trees was waiting for us. You can easily spend a full day there, swim/walk to the Roky Cay Island bring your snorkels! Some beech restaurants have lockers (Aqua Beach club).
One other place that we enjoyed this time by scooter is the West side of the island: La piscina, rockier with an amazing seafloor. You can enter in one of the Beach Bar (with mandatory drinks), or actually, stop around there and discover this beautiful underwater world. A friend took some bread to feed the fish, even without you will cross many of them.
Being attracted to Providencia we didn’t do all the activities that San Andres offers.
